How much does Lake Quincy Media compensate Publishers in the Publisher Network?

Publisher compensation is based on the number of ads the Publisher site shows. Publisher compensation is paid at a rate of 50% of the gross value of every advertisement shown on the member site multiplied by each advertisement's share of impressions that was shown on the member site. These calculations are made following each calendar month. The following example illustrates Publisher compensation:

Example of Publisher compensation -

Member site ASPisCOOL.com shows 234,000 impressions of an ad for SomeGreatWebHost.com, which had a gross value of $1000 for the previous month. The total number of impressions shown for this ad for the whole network was 1,000,000. Thus, ASPisCool.com's share of this ad's impressions for the month is (234,000 / 1,000,000) = .234. ASPisCool.com's Publisher compensation for this particular ad would therefore be 50% of the gross value of the ad for the month ($1000) times its share of .234, or $117. These calculations are repeated for every ad shown by the member site that month.

How frequently does Lake Quincy Media send payment to publishers?

All compensation is calculated monthly, for the previous month. Payments are made by check NET 60 from the end of the month in which the compensation was earned. Thus, payments for January would be sent out no later than the end of March. As a rule, members are only sent payment when their total balance exceeds $100. Generally, any balances outstanding at the end of the calendar year are paid out at that time to clear the books. Please note that payments can only be paid directly to Publisher sites and will not be sent to third parties or intermediaries.

Do I need to accept all advertisement sizes that Lake Quincy Media offers to advertisers?

No. You, the publisher have full control over what sizes and types of ads you choose to display on your site. We encourage you to support all the sizes and types of advertisements available to the advertisers, though, because it means you'll have the ability to display more impressions which translates to greater compensation. For best results, choose a different mix of ad formats for different areas of your site, and limit how many advertisements are shown on any one page.

For a complete list of the sizes and kinds of ads that advertisers can choose from, see our Media Kit.

How do I apply to join the Lake Quincy Publisher Network?

To apply for acceptance into the Lake Quincy Publisher Network, simply register as a user and then set up a publisher account. In the site description, tell us about your site and its audience. Also include the number of unique visitors and page views your site attracts monthly. We will review your request and someone will be in touch with you within 5 business days.

What is the process followed for deciding whether a site is accepted into the Publisher Network or not?

The Lake Quincy Publisher Network is made up of ASP, ASP.NET and .NET related Web sites. The network has a fairly strong preference for content sites as opposed to directory sites. Lake Quincy management reserves the right to make all final decisions regarding a site's acceptance as a new Publisher. In general, we expect all Publisher sites to have content that is of value to Microsoft Web developers, and to meet our requirements.

Please allow up to two weeks for this review process to take place, though you should hear from someone within a few days of contacting us.

What is expected of me after I'm accepted into the Publisher Network?

After your acceptance into the Publisher Network, you'll receive a welcome e-mail from Lake Quincy Media that will include instructions for setting up the ads on your site and a link to the Banner Tags Setup Wizard. New Publisher sites are expected to have their ads running within 30 days of receiving this welcome e-mail.

Please also make sure your user profile setting has "Receive Publisher Updates" checked to ensure that you always receive any news and announcements for publishers.

How many ads can I display on each Web page?

You can show up to 2 image ads of each format and up to 4 text ads on each Web page. Ads should be placed above the fold whenever possible, but should NEVER take up more than 50% of the above-the-fold area.

Can I use Snap.com SnapShots on my site along with Lake Quincy Media ads?

Yes and No. You can use SnapShots (or any other web page previewer) on your site, but need to disable it on all Lake Quincy Media ads. SnapShots automatically and incorrectly registers a click through when it displays the ads' landing page. Although failing to disable it wouldn't affect revenue it would provide misleading stats to advertisers.

To disable SnapShots simply wrap a DIV around each individual banner tag on your site with the class "snap_noshots" applied to it. To disable any other viewer, consult the viewer's online support. Example:

<div class="snap_noshots">
<script type="text javascript">
<!--
all specific tag info here
//-->
<script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="..."></script>
</div>

How do I make the ads open their landing page in a new window?

You can make the ads always open a new window when clicked by adding a single additional parameter to the tags when you plug them into your site. Simply add lqm_target = "_blank"; to the list of parameters in your tags that all start with the prefix "lqm_".

Who wrote the Publisher Network software and where is it hosted?

The Lake Quincy Publisher Network is hosted on a 4-node cluster at ORCSWeb.com and is running on a custom advertising engine written in ASP.NET and C# by Steven Smith, President of ASPAlliance.com, one of the many Publisher Network sites.

How do I withdraw from the Publisher Network?

Publisher sites can withdraw from the network at any time, but 30 days' notice is appreciated.

Why are you called Lake Quincy Media? What's that all about?

Lake Quincy is an actual lake (seen in the picture above) located on the north side of Kent, Ohio, which is near our office. We chose the name for a variety of reasons, including our fondness for the lake and the fact that the domain name lakequincy.com was available. We also wanted a unique name that was not just the usual "adjective noun" or (technology acronym) (whatever) combination.

What kind of bird is that in your logo?

It is in fact a blue heron (not a penguin) like the one pictured below:
Blue Heron
